Graduation Invitations

We know how important it is to have your family and friends visit you while studying abroad or to attend your commencement ceremony, and we want to help make that happen. This page provides information on best practices to keep in mind when inviting your loved ones to the United States.

Visa Requirements

It's crucial to understand the visa requirements before extending an invitation. Some countries are eligible for the Visa Waiver Program, while others will need to apply for a B-2 visitor visa. To make sure you have the most up-to-date information, please check the U.S. Department of State website.

Best Practices: Documentation

If your visitors need a B-2 visitor visa, you'll need to send them a letter of invitation that includes essential details such as your name, address, and phone number, as well as the purpose and length of their visit. Additionally, include information about your relationship, their travel plans and dates, and where they'll be staying during their time here. You can find a sample of the letter to fill or copy here: Sample Form.

Your visitors may be asked to provide proof of financial support for their trip, but you can also offer to provide financial assistance if needed. Be sure to provide evidence of your ability to support them, such as bank statements or proof of employment.

Once you have applied for graduation and have registered for or completed all degree requirements, you may request a letter stating you will graduate pending successful completion of current classes.

Please send this request from your Austin Peay email to graduation@hwfj-art.com; be sure to include your Student ID (A number)!

It's also essential to provide your visitors with copies of your I-20, visa page, and I-94 record.

Don't Forget - Apply Early!

It's critical to plan ahead and start the visa application process as early as possible. Remember that it can take several weeks or even months to obtain a visa, so be sure to provide your visitors with all the necessary documents and information well in advance of their trip.

When your visitors arrive in the U.S., they will need to go through customs and border control, so make sure they have all the necessary documentation, such as their passport and visa. Also, prepare them to answer any questions about their trip.

We hope this information helps make your visitors' trip to the U.S. as smooth and enjoyable as possible. For questions or additional information, please email iss@hwfj-art.com,
